Dr. Tracy Cohn, PhD Licensed Clinical Psychologist | University Professor | Consultant

Dr. Tracy Cohn (pronounced cone) provides high-level psychological consultation and therapy for adults navigating the complexities of modern professional and personal life. By bridging the gap between cutting-edge clinical research and real-world application, Dr. Cohn offers a sophisticated framework for those who value intellectual depth and absolute discretion. Through his PSYPACT authorization, he provides borderless, secure telepsychology for clients across 39+ states.

A Rigorous Clinical Foundation

Dr. Cohn’s clinical work is grounded in Psychodynamic Theory, focusing on how early relationship patterns influence current professional and personal dynamics. He moves beyond surface-level symptom management, utilizing a versatile toolkit that includes cognitive-behavioral strategies and interpretive dialogue. This integrative approach is designed for the client who seeks a deeper understanding of their internal architecture to foster long-term, sustainable change.

Evidence-Based Authority

As a researcher and professor, Dr. Cohn remains at the forefront of psychological science. His scholarly work—supported by over $1.2M in grant funding—examines the intersections of human sexuality, behavioral public policy, and conflict resolution in high-stakes relationships.

Strategic Consultation

Since 2008, Dr. Cohn has served as a behavioral consultant for organizations ranging from agile startups to global corporations. He specializes in the "human element" of business: optimizing leadership performance, enhancing cultural trust, and strategic personnel selection. This unique dual-perspective allows him to understand the specific pressures his professional clients face from an insider's point of view.

FAQs

Why do you operate as a private-pay practice?

Choosing to work outside of the insurance system ensures a high level of confidentiality, autonomy, and clinical freedom.

Privacy: Insurance companies require a clinical diagnosis and often have the right to audit your treatment records. In a private-pay model, your records remain entirely outside of corporate and medical databases.

  • Tailored Care: We are not restricted by insurance "session limits" or rigid criteria. Your treatment is driven by your goals—not by what a third party is willing to cover.

What are the benefits of the PSYPACT authorization?

As a PSYPACT-authorized psychologist, Dr. Cohn is legally permitted to provide telepsychology services to clients located in over 39 participating states. This is ideal for professionals who travel frequently or relocate seasonally. You can maintain a consistent therapeutic relationship regardless of where your business or personal life takes you.

I am a high-profile/high-visibility professional. How is my privacy handled?

Discretion is the cornerstone of this practice. We utilize HIPAA-compliant, encrypted telehealth platforms and secure administrative systems. Because we do not interface with insurance companies, the circle of "who knows" is kept to the absolute minimum.

Can I still use my insurance benefits if I choose?

While Dr. Cohn is an out-of-network provider, many clients with PPO plans are eligible for partial reimbursement. Upon request, we can provide a "superbill" (i.e., a detailed receipt of services) that you may submit to your insurance carrier for potential out-of-network benefits. We recommend contacting your provider to verify your "out-of-network outpatient mental health" coverage.

How is your approach different from "coaching"?

While coaching often focuses on specific tasks or short-term performance, Dr. Cohn’s work as a Licensed Clinical Psychologist goes a bit deeper. We examine the underlying psychological architecture—patterns of behavior, early relationship dynamics, and identity—that drive your decision-making. This leads to profound, sustainable shifts rather than temporary adjustments.

What is the investment for a session?

The fee is $250 per 45-minute session, payable at the time of service via a secure portal.

How do I know if we are a "good fit"?

Successful therapy is built on a strong professional alliance. Dr. Cohn offers a brief initial consultation to discuss your objectives and ensure that his expertise aligns with your needs. This practice is best suited for stable, self-directed adults who are looking for a rigorous, insight-oriented partnership.
